The art placed on the trees at the cutting line last year by students from the area can now be found on the ground in a place where an impromptu art gallery and an ecosystem has been turned into a wasteland by this cutting season.
Yet even now laying on the ground it serves as a marker in a terrain which feels disorienting as if one found themselves in ruins of bombed out ecological Hiroshima or Nagasaki not being even able to recodnize their own neighborhood until finding a small and yet so significant and symbolic detail that managed to survive and mark the place that once was and now only lives on in our memories and reminds of the importance of the struggle.
Three days of action planning, workshops, networking and campaigning discussions will take place in KUZEB social center during the first weekend of February. A Hambcher Forest evening with films, presentation and Q&A will take place on Saturday. Accomodations and food will be organized for all participants.

After several years of all time temperature record-breaking years it looks like this time the snow cover might stick around for more than 2-4 hours, helping all involved to stay out of the mud. “Thanks” to RWE and other fossil climate killers long gone however are minimum 2 weeks to a month of snow present every winter in the region in the 70s and 80s. A distant memory just like if it was up to the local law enforcement and court system the Meadow Camp and protest camps in general would become as well.
The efforts to justify the removal of the Meadow Camp’s status and its future eviction continue with the disinformation campaign from the court in Munster, to which this case has been appealed, releasing an official statement that “There is no anti-coal propaganda in the Meadow Camp”. Several hundred pieces of literature on environmental, climate and social impact of coal mining displayed in the infoshop and throughout the Meadow are based on scientific impact studies and personal accounts which do not fit the definition of propaganda which is traditionally what the governments engages in, using mass media, threat of repression and serious bending of reality. The Court in Munstert in doing precisely that by using such wording showing its close connection to the fossil industry and RWE. Proving its total disregard of countless studies showing their impact on the local communities and the planet at large and then insulting and denying their existence all together. When such bias and disregard is present activism and direct action becomes once again the only course thatcan be undertaken.
When images like this become part of a remote past as climate chaos rages world-wide the only way those in power who are responsible will continue this charade will be by distracting the populace with paranoia not just towards immigrants but also towards activists in general. For this reason many appeals have gone out and continue to do so to prepare for the coming Day X of planned eviction in the Meadow and/or in the Forest by offering solidarity actions and places to decompress for those involved. After all the proverbial Day X is not something that is awaited or that is coming in the future but something that is already happening world wide to countless species and humans affected by extractionism and extreme energy.
This Monday 1.17 another confrontation has taken place between Water Defenders opposing the North Dakota Access Pipeline and the cops. Rubber encased steel bullets were fired injuring several activists, tear gas was used and 14 activists were arrested. Barbed wire was removed formed into frisbies and thrown back at the cops.Several hour long standoff continued on the Backwater Bridge separating the protesters from the pipeline construction site. The pigs continued to shoot down any drones that were not their own. This repression is taking place while the Republican controlled state assembly of North Dakota is attempting to pass a new law that would make it legal to injure and even kill any pedestrians blocking a road while driving a car. This is obviously directed against Water Defenders who like many ecological activists often blockade roadways and who already have been hit and injured by idiots driving snow mobiles around the protest site. This new law would in effect allow any racist pig-headed vigilante to turn his already destructive and deadly vehicle into even deadlier and now even state sanctioned weapon. This brings up parallels of RWE’s secus also using a truck to ram, injure and then arrest a Hambi activist also with full sanction and approval of the state. Water Defenders are also currently facing Grand Juries forcing them to testify and list their comrades under a threat of imprisonment if they refuse. Regardless many have chosen not to cooperate. This resembles the cases of house searches, home visits and questioning by the german cops as experienced on many occasions by those involved in the anti-coal struggle in the Rhineland. Both are not even as much attempts to persecute as they are tools to intimidate and silence especially in the case of Water Defenders who are facing grand juries in cases dealing with repressive police tactics and their use of force resulting in activist’s injuries. The parallels and similiarities between the two movements come to an end however when one takes into account that none of us in the Rhineland has had to dealt with 400 years of colonialism, genocide and continuing state sanctioned racism and exploitation and its aftermath, 4-5 to 11 years maybe but not 400. Neither are any of us eposed to daily barages of rubber bullets, armored personell carriers and water cannons in freezing weather. In the case of Rhineland and RWE in particular the bullets _are_ flying but they are being shot by right wing hit squads aka crooked cops in places like Columbia against those who refuse to move from their homes to make way for RWE’s coal mines there, the gas is not tear gas but giga-tons of climate killing carbon affecting the global poor in the south of the planet the most, oh yeah there is even freezing water involved as well as antarctic ice shelves turn into mush and slide into the ocean and as the northern ice cover diminishes to the lowest levels ever recorded. Flooding hundreds of millions in Bangladesh, through out the Indian Ocean and beyond. Proving that RWE is just as racist and reactionary in its modus operandi as the rest of its Fossil Fool(Fuel) industry cohorts.
Therefore the only justice possible and attainable here will never originate from any of the capitalist courts which are now in a never-ending state of emergency and a mad race to out due each other with ever expanding arsenal of surveillance, repression and torture to protect the profits of their corporate masters. In a time of global ecological and social collapse the only justice that is possible is a justice attained by the struggle of resistance based on solidarity and unity of struggles such as the one in Rhineland, Standing Rock and countless others around the planet which are standing and fighting against the forces of greed, destruction and death.
In Solidarity with Standing Rock, and all others who are active in the Strugle….

This new years night while everybody was celebrating, we had a special party of our own, visiting the hambach opencast mine and putting on a nice fireworks display for RWE and breaking some glass for a lucky new fear.
After wandering along the railway tracks which transport brown coal from the mine to nearby power stations, we came across two signal boxes and a bundle of cables and thought these were perfectly suitable targets for our mischevious intentions.
We opened the boxes with a wide chisel and placed inside 10cm lengths of inner tube stuffed with gasoline soaked cloths then smeared the inside of the boxes with burning gel to make sure it all burnt properly.
We thought the party was over, but then on the way back we noticed some welcoming lights from an office trailer in a fenced compound. Next to the trailer were two parked diggers in dire need of maintenance, we checked the trailer was empty by smashing its windows, then cut the fence and set about immediately improving the air conditioning of the diggers, smashing their windows, cutting all of the hydraulics and adding some extra holes to the coolers. We also poured some dirt and broken glass in the gas tanks and used a bolt cutter to cut the valves of the trailers tires.
200m further, we found a front-end loader and gave it the same treatment as well as emptying the fire extinguisher found inside the cab into its gas tank.
According to the media reports all of this caused a damage of “tens of thousands” of euros, making it our most expensive new years party so far.
We wish to send our thanks to all the people who provided us with perfect sound cover by wasting huge amounts of explosives, terrifying the local wildlife in a stupid capitalist ritual.

On the night of the 5th of January I paid a visit to the Hambach open cast browncoal mine close to Aachen. My goal was to destroy the railroad tracks with a load of thermite I stole from an other industrial company.
Thermite burns around 2500 degrees celcius, and the steel of the tracks melts around 1500 degrees celcius, so the thermite does a lot of damage when ignited properly.
I chose the location so it would hurt them most, at the part where the train can switch to the other track since this part is one of a kind and they have to make a new one on site. When I got there I set everything up after checking the target and my escape root, the termite I put in 2 plant pots with holes in the bottoms to guide the molten mixture to the right place. The stuff is easy to ignite with sparklers, which you can get anywhere around new years, but to be sure it all went up I put around 20 in each spot. I placed the device and set it ablaze.
Just in the moment I lighted the 2nd one I saw the headlights of a train coming my way. I had plenty of time to get some space between me and the molten mixture and watch the train driving into one of the pots. The tracks and front wheel were covered in the burning thermite and making a repetitive noise of the wheels hitting the damaged spot.
After one last look at this spectacle I got my ass out of there.

Contrary to some running rumours, currently there are no signs that the meadow is going to be evicted. In the next days, there will be no eviction here (the meadow sentence is not yet legally valid and there is also no court order). No one knows if something of this kind is going to happen in the next few weeks or months. So have a good time wherever you are, donate as you can, and keep an eye on the blog!

“After the recent, massiv attacs by RWE and the police against the anti-brown-coal-resistance in the hambach forest we are now again going on to the offensive.
This night we blockaded the hambach railway. [Ticker: http://hambachforest.blogsport.de/2016/12/12/ticker-blockade-of-the-hambach-railway/]
The last weeks were characterized by police operations with eviction tanks and water guns to protect the clearing works in the occupied hambach forest. At the same time there have been massiv repressions against activists and supporters.
The operations reached its peak with the arrest of Siao, Hodei and Maya. The three are now in the women´s prison in Köln- Ossendorf. In the media it has been given the impression that some of our as „violent“ declared forms of actions are the problem.
The media forgets in that case that RWE constantly goes on with the destruction of our planet.
The problem is not the activism but the brown coal, which is deeply connected with our capitalistic system. With our blockade of the connection between the coal mine and the power plant we want to show RWE that we aren´t paralyzed and that we transform our sorrow over our compas in prison into anger and action!
Freedom for Maya, Siao, Hodei!
The problem is the brown coal!
Show your solidarity with the prisoners, write letters & do actions.
