Förwilda-Camp in Sweden

“The summer in Sweden is cold and the sun never sets. That’s what we found out during our week-long stay in the diverse Forest ‘Vilseskogen’ near Gässjö in Angermanland in middle/north Sweden. There grow mostly pines and spruces, and some of them are 400 years old. Other characteristic species are mooses, different kinds of berries and lickens. When we went for inventory we found some red-listed species and our first wild orchid. The water of most of the lakes and springs is drinkable.
Our camp was set up on a hill in the middle of the forest. It was a small camp with a lot of different people, including locals from Gässjö. We had different workshops, self defence, practiced tree-climbing and learned how to build an instant platform. Furthermore we took long walks in the forest and talked about strategies to save forests in different local struggles.
But why did we meet here?

This forest is supposed to become toilet paper. The biggest private land owner in Europe, SCA, is planning to clearcut the entire ‘Viseskogen’. SCA is a company certified by FSC (Forest Stuardship Council) as an attempt to make them look clean and ecological. But under the logo of FSC forests are cut down in which red listed species are found. SCA only has to protect 5%
of the forest, but they can change the protected areas as they like over the course of time. This puts all of their forests at risk and does nothing to protect them in the long run. We now know the true face of the Satanic Clearcutting Assholes that they are.”

Soli Fotos for UPIII

This weekend a solidarity foto action for UPIII took place with all the photos below being the result. THANKS EVERYBODY!!

ONE IS TOO MANY!! And when climate, forest and animal rights activists continue to be repressed and locked up and the concept of justice twisted and defaced. Direct action, grass roots and horizontalist action become the last line of defense against climate collapse and deforestation having exhausted all other possibilities. Those detained for those just causes remain our silent heros. more…

SOLIDARITY TO HAMBI & THE RESISTANCE FROM PONT VALLEY OCCUPATION

Stormy Clouds Sunset over Pont Valley Protection Camp

Lots of warm solidarity and support from Pont Valley Protection Camp to all defending Hambacher Forest and full spectrum of their supporters following evictions of barricades this time by the police and imprisonment of now 2 additional Climate Justice Political Prisoners together with UP2(kept for past 2 month in isolation with “evidence” being kept from the defense) making now the #freeHambi3. The disaster martial law capitalism steps up its bullshit this time instead of after communists and labour activists going for environmental, climate and direct action activists first as Rheine Energy CEO/Police Chief, Herbert Reul and his fossil fools disaster capilast New Frei Corps of North Rhine Westphalia Interior ministry police sweeps up the opposition. As climate disaster deepens, ecosystems collapse accelerates, nuclear proliferation and militarization is an accepted by the masses fucked up reality while militant resistance is delegitimized, criminalized and appropriated for media green-scare campaigns. Firecrackers and pocket knives become dangerous weapons as politically cynical capitalist conspiracy of repression continues its campaign of divide and conquer by pushing community and civil initiatives to be further and further apart from radical part of the movement. Through fear and reformists empty promises of change forcing some to engage in follow ups of repressions with external retraumatizing critiques. more…

Hambach Forest – Bure Solidarity Open Letter

Throughout the past three years of Bure Anti-Nuclear Struggle and Lejuc Forest Occupation you have inspired us many times and reminded the people in the Hambach Forest, also constantly facing and dealing with repression, that we are not alone. That we are not alone in fighting and resisting capitalism with its many Hydra-like heads of extractionism and climate injustice. The solidarity banners and actions have been going back and forth between the two occupations in the moments when there were most needed. Thank You for both!! more…

Animal Liberation Week Approaching – Help Needed, Workshop List and More

As the days get (hopefully) warmer, our Liberate Or Die: From Cage to Freedom event approaches quicker that we would like to recognize. For anyone that isn’t in the known, the event will take place from the 15th to the 20 of March in the heart of the Forest! Many working groups are working tirelessly to accommodate the possibility of over one hundred people coming from multiple countries for a week of workshops and actions related to the animal liberation movement.

There is a facebook event where most updates are made, so if you are able, check what is going on over there! https://www.facebook.com/events/330777867416283/ more…

A supporters account of barricade evictions

Arrived at 8.00 in the forest. When I wanted to go to tripod (Jesuspoint) towards Gaul, 3 policemen (presumably SWAT Hambach) arrived. They made derogatory and offensive remarks to the activists. When I arrived in Gaul, I met several local citizens and supporters. In Gaul, there were about 14 police officers from the evidence preservation units, they took pictures and videos(those are later used to prepare treehouse evictions and other large scale actions). more…

Airport project in Notre-Dame-des-Landes called off!

Against the airport
and its world!

The French government has abandoned the construction of the disputed major airport near Nantes, which had been under discussion for 50 years. The Prime Minister said that if there was such a strong opposition in a region, that literally divided the local population in half, such a project could not be carried out without confrontation (taz).
In other words, farmers, militants and environmentalists have prevented the project. They transformed a “differed development zone” (ZAD = Zone d’Aménagement Différé) to a zone to defend (Zone à défendre) and the people who had settled on the 1600 ha site, call themselves Zadistes.

Our congratulations to all, who made this possible.
But!
The Prime Minister still said something else: “Anyone who is currently illegally occupying land in Notre-Dame-des-Landes must vacate it by spring at the latest.” It may be that the Zadistes will wait to see if this decision really will be implemented. If so, then it might be that more French will be spoken soon on the edge of the Hambach hole.
