Steffen Meyn has been working for some time as part of his studies at the KHM (Academy of Media Arts) Cologne on a cinematic documentary about the life the of tree house people in the Hambach Forest. Their aim is to prevent the clear cutting of the forest for the purpose of producing lignite. When the tree houses were cleared by police, these events were also part of his cinematic observations. more…

Hambi-Activist Eule (=Owl, pronounce Oyle) has been in custody since September 26th now. In recent days, residents of the Hambach Forest hoisted two banners in solidarity with Eule and all political prisoners from the trees – with the inscriptions “1, 2, 3, lasst Eule frei, 4, 5, 6, sonst komm’n wir mit der Flex” (1, 2, 3, set Eule free, 4, 5, 6, if not we’ll come with the flex = angle grinder) and “Our passion for freedom is stronger than your repression – Hacia una sociedad que no necesita prisiones – clinks to gap sites” more…

You are always where we are!
Our heart is filled with the love
you shared with us.
We smile, are happy and thankful,
because you lived with us.
Our eyes see all that you left behind.
We do what you would have wanted:
Opening our eyes, loving, smiling, carrying on.
Encountering with esteem and respect
the humans, the animals, the nature.
Preserving the creation, responsibly
dealing with the environment, with Mother Earth and that we
represent our values with love, courage, strength, stamina and
steadfastly with God’s help.
In our hearts you are living on, your doing, your being. more…
Two trials against anti-fascist / anti-racist activists will soon take place in Aachen. We call for a solidary accompaniment of the processes and a demo against the shift to the right and repression. The dates at a glance
One trial will take place following the events in the Frankenberger Viertel in March 2017. There was a quarrel with two organized neo-Nazis. Shortly thereafter, two people were arrested, they were accused of civil disorder and bodily injury. The public prosecutor’s office promptly fantasized about the danger of absconding and put the two on remand for more than two weeks. Now they are charged. more…

“This week the judge decided to make the eviction of the Swamp possible. This means that birds, rabbits, bats, rats, insects and people lose their living space and a young forest will be killed. All to make space for more asphalt, another distribution center and a busparking that could be built somewhere else. The judge ignored that the owner; Borghese Real Estate B.V., hasn’t even asked for permits to cut the trees on the part of the Swamp that is not destroyed yet. more…
Almost two weeks ago (Oct. 13th, 2018), a group of us began squatting Manheim, opening up the MAZ (Manheim Ⓐutonomous Zone) 46 occupation on the corner of Friedensstrasse and Forsthausstrasse.
What followed was twelve days of living autonomously, developing the space, and building relations with neighbours. Over the last weekend, though, the repression of the project was especially severe, with the police laying siege to the occupation almost constantly, denying us supplies and even beating up and arresting some of those attempting to support us. Even a child, who wanted to give us cookies, was searched! more…

Behind us are exhausting weeks of fighting for the Hambach Forest, which were filled with scenes of violence and escalation by the police against peaceful occupiers and demonstrators.
Despite the provisional clearing stop and the somewhat calming around the quaint forest, the fight for local and global climate justice is far from over! The tree houses, the habitat of so many people in the forest, were destroyed in an emotionally cold way, but the memories remain and we are still here!
For RWE and politicians remain faithful to their crushing and life-negating agenda and always try to confront the public with fait accompli. Although it is still unclear whether the pit will ever be expanded by Manheim, urgently needed homes are razed to the ground every day. more…
