Street music with ‚Klaus der Geiger‘ at the train station in Buir on tuesday (23.10.)

This tuesday we will stir up Buir! At 4 pm Klaus der Geiger (violin songwriter from Cologne) will be playing street music at the station in Buir. He wrote a song about the coal mining by RWE. Let’s have a party over there and show our solidarity against RWE! There will be delicious vegan food for everybody! Hambach Forest stays! The diggers have to leave!

    FOREST CLEARANCE HAS STARTED!

The first clearance works in Hambach Forest have begun. Several hundred meters northwest of the occupation RWE started to remove undergrowth and bushes – preparing the forest for complete removal. These works are being regularly disrupted, diverse tactics are being used successfully. More people are needed to bring the works to a complete halt, so come along and join us! Help saving the forest – NOW is the time!

    WATCH OUT WHEN YOU ARRIVE

Security guards taking photos of suspected occupation-members and stealing shared bikes („seizing“ them to hand over to police) has been common practice for a while. In the last few days there were also two physical attacks towards occupants and visitors by members of the security company.
It‘s best to take precautions during your arrival, especially alone or at night. Have a camera ready to take photos or videos, usually this keeps them from trying anything. You can also call us on the forest phone if you want someone to pick you up and accompany you on the dangerous 300m across the bridges.
Don‘t be discouraged from coming, there is an approved vigil space behind the security zone – just don‘t expect any support from public authorities.

    Unräumbar Festival

    HAMBACH FOREST 180

There are 180 days in which RWE can legaly cut the Hambach forest. In the period from 1 October to 31 March is likely that many trees are cut down, because under the forest is the the lignite, that RWE wants to turn into profit. 180 days, in which we want to prevent the clearing of woodland and the forest occupation will be threatened with eviction. To disrupt effectively, we must be a lot of people – and have lots of ideas. That is why we need your support!
We are looking for groups, that express their willingness to come together for a certain time in the woods with us to prevent the clearing work.

What are the requirements for groups that want to take over one day take of disrupting the cutting?

A group may be either a spontaneous association of people or a fixed set of names and common background. To sucsessfully prevent that trees are cut, there should be about 10 people there per day. If you are five or less people so we’ll try to win another group for the same day.
For us it is very important that a commitment is absolutely firm. If a group wants to come for just one day, it means to be there for at least 36 hours, to have enough time for the preparation and review of action so it makes sense to stay for several days at a stretch.
Please consider your journey to here when planning:)

What exactly can a group do locally?

A group that wants to take over for a period of time preventing or disrupting the clearing work should aim to protect the forest. The chosen form of action may be direct, creative or symbolic.
Whether tree occupations, demonstrations, theater performance, or anything else that you can think of – through different forms of protest, the resistance is varied and colorful!
A group should think in advance what they can imagine to do in the woods. Locally, there will be a short briefing on the current situation and also, if desired, action recommendations.
It would be very good if you also participated in the night watch:)

What you can expect as a group?

You will get an introduction, a tour through the forest and information about the Rhenish lignite mining area. If you want you can combine your stay in the forest with an information session about what you are doing at the moment.
A supply of food and warm sleeping spaces, including warm water bottles for those who want, it will be provided.

How do you register yourself for a period?

If you can imagine, to be come to the forest for a period of time to perform actions against the clearing, then write us a mail to: hambacherforst@nullriseup.net
After consultation, we take you into the calendar, which can be seen under hambacherforst.blogsport.de.

    Let’s make the clearing impossible!

Scotland: New open-cast mine in lords garden

This morning (18.july.2012) “take back the land”-activists built a new open-cast mine in the lords “garden” to enable a “closer” inside on the cause. The lord owns the open-cast mine Mainshill and the area of Glentaggart East, currently squatted by the actioncamp, where a new open-cast mine is planned.

Only a part of what the residents have to endure every day was shown to him by this action. What he did not have to see are the healthproblems, the smell of diesel, die danger on the streets and the noise.

Later during this action the police arrived but did not arrest anyone.

One of the activists involved said the shire is realising a profit of millions through the mine in Douglas Valley, but there is no agreement for the mining from the residents: 70% of the people fight against the open-cast mine Mainshill and 650 objections were sent to the council.

A resident said that everything belongs to the lord and that he makes a lot of money – without giving anything back to the community. “He makes millions and we contract cancer and asthma.”

Once more we can see that usually the people suffering from the impact of ecocidal projects are not those benefiting from the projects.

    Coal mine blockade in scotland

At 10:00 at saturday morning a group of 45 activists invaded Scottish Coal’s Mainshill Open Cast Coal Site near Douglas, South Lanarkshire, and shut it down for the day. Machines including a “prime mover” were occupied and all work was stopped completely. This is the first action at Take Back the Land! – the action camp in the Douglas Valley will be up and running until the 18th July. Come and get involved! More photos below.
